About Us

History

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ilorin was established 2010/2011 session with Prof. Abdulganiy Ambali OON as the pioneering Dean of the Faculty. 

The faculty started with four (4) Departments. 

1.         Veterinary Anatomy

2.         Veterinary Medicine

3.         Veterinary Physiology and Pharmacology

4.         Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine

The Paraclinical and Clinical Departments came on board as the faculty was growing including Veterinary Microbiology and Parasitology, Veterinary Surgery and Theriogenology, Veterinary Pathology.

The faculty started at block one of the University.  It was relocated to the former University Secondary School in 2013 after the University School was moved to the Mini Campus.  Faculty of Veterinary Medicine contributes immensely to the progress and international recognition of the University. The Departments were later increased to ten which is what we have now
